For some of you…Your summer’s about to get a whole lot funnier!

June 27th – Los Angeles – Fundraiser for HIBM. Tickets and info at: hibm.org

“It’s an information seminar on cancer,” Jobrani says of the Persian American Cancer Institute (PACI). “It’s very important because there’s no other organization like it in the Iranian community and we need to educate ourselves more on this disease. We also need to know that we can help others with cancer just by signing up for the bone marrow registry.”

Always the activist, Jobrani tells us that in addition to all his gigs and philanthropic duties, he intends on remembering the many Iranian lives lost on the streets of Tehran last year post-Iran election, by “watching the news closely to see what happens in Iran. Although I read [a couple of days ago] that the opposition parties called off any rallies so, I’m not sure what’s going to happen.”

And all you LA-based Maz fans, you must check out this photo exhibition Document: Iranian-Americans in Los Angeles in your hood. Featuring Jobrani as one of the many Iranian-Americans photographed, the exhibition is said to cover “the processes of documentation and how they relate to the photographers’ understandings of their own hyphenated Iranian identities.”

Maz’s hilarious DVD “Brown and Friendly” is still available at Walmart or on his website at mazjobrani.com.
